Message Win Factory Hood Strut
I got a box from Driven Authority today! I opted for the passenger only single hood strut. The brackets are powdercoated satin black and the strut is all black. The hardware however is nickel plated and stands out a bit. I might paint them in the future. Overall everything seems good quality. The brackets are plenty sturdy and I have no worries about them.

Install was easy and took a whopping 5 minutes, including squinting at the video to figure which way around the hood bracket and ball go. (inboard) It was pretty straight forward and they included longer hardware to account for the added material. (Thank you for keeping 10mm and 12mm heads!!!) I did have to clean some sticker residue off of the strut body (trying to thwart AMS?) but it came off easily with some mineral spirits.

The strut will hold the hood at about eye level, above and it pushes it the rest of the way open, below and it lets it fall. All the way open is about where the prop rod holds it when the rod is in the lower hole.

I'm mildly concerned about the torque being put on the corner of the hood when lowering it, I might go back and get the other side later. Overall I'm way happy with it and this was perfect timing, as my second prop-rod clip broke 2 weeks ago. I didn't take any pictures because their video pretty well covers it.

I would ask them for install instructions and to clean off the sticker goo before delivering it, but those are the kinds of things that get ironed out as they get used to delivering them. I know it took me several months to get proper install instructions out for my caps.

Thumbs up from me!
